Organized in 1968 as a private non-profit organization, Sumter Senior Services is designated as the focal point for aging services in Sumter County for programs, services, information and advocacy for older adults. Sumter Senior Services is part of a statewide network of service providers for seniors who work under the direction of the Bureau of Long Term Care and Senior Services, a division of the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. All services provided by the agency help support our mission and philosophy of service:
Mission: To provide opportunities for physical, mental, and emotional wellness which support independence and enrich the quality of life for older adults.
Philosophy: We have an obligation to assist those older residents who spent their working years building our community and to provide programs and services which assist seniors in living in a home setting for as long as possible.
Core services provided to support our mission are:
- Home delivered meals (Meals-on-Wheels)
- Senior Centers
- Health/Wellness Programs
