On May 18th, Shiloh/St. John Community Center held their 1st Annual Pine Cone Festival. The festival was held from 11a.m. to 3p.m. and featured vendors, a flea market, health seminars, carriage rides, food, music, and much more. The Shiloh Seniors worked in conjunction with Site Manager, Louette Cabbagestalk, Sumter County Parks and Recreation, and the Pine Cone Festival Committee to put together an event for the community that was entertaining, informative, and fun for all ages. The Sumter County Sheriff Department, Sumter County Fire Department, Clemson Extension Master Gardner and other health organizations were in attendance promoting a healthy and wholesome Shiloh/St. John community. During the festival, judging for the pine cone decorating contest was held. Two different age groups, 18-64 and 65 and up, competed for prizes and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons. The participants showed their design style and created some fascinating things made out of pine cones. The event was a complete success! Shiloh/St. John Community Center is located on 475 Pudding Swamp Rd. Lynchburg, SC 29080.
